While visiting a small town in Alabama, the Aldens hear mysterious howls at midnight, leading them to wonder if an old local legend about a ghost dog is true.

The Aldens are helping out at the Greenfield Ice Cream Barn. They are learning to make ice cream and creating some new flavors. But they soon notice that the ice cream isn't the only thing getting mixed up at the Ice Cream Barn. It appears that someone wants to shut the shop down! Can the Boxcar Children sort out this sticky mess before the Ice Cream Barn gets licked?

When the Aldens have the chance to work at a candy factory, they try to find out who is sabotaging the candy and why.

The children are staying at the home of a famous inventor who was known for her one-of-a-kind clocks. All the clocks make noise especially at midnight, when there are enough chimes, gongs, and clangs to wake the whole house up! But the clocks aren't the only sound in the house at midnight. Someone or something is making a mysterious tapping sound. Who could be inventing trouble in the old house?
